I often joke that sitting is the new smoking. If you work in an office, often time we are stuck at our desk for far to long. It’s a busy world we live in today, with increasing demands on employers and employees alike. We work long hours, often hunched over a computer. We skip meals, keep a phone glued to our ear, and rarely leave our workspace for a break. Before long, these work habits begin to take their toll on our bodies and minds in the form of lack of creativity, stress, tension and sickness. How we respond to stress can have a significant impact on our health. Yoga can remove stress from the body and mind. Some possible benefits of doing yoga in the office...
Employees that are happier, feel more energetic, and are more productive
Decline in stress-related sick occurrences
Improved concentration, creativity and decision-making skills
Improves employee alertness and ability to react more calmly in demanding situations
Relief of head, neck and back strain, carpal tunnel syndrome, insomnia, high blood pressure and work-related injuries from repetitive motion
Enhanced employee attitude and outlook
General well-being in the workplace which reduces employee turnover
I have incorporated Carter's yoga practice into various aspects of my life, both personally and professionally, with very positive outcomes! His classes are engaging, well-paced, and often customized to the group and environment. Bringing Carter in to lead a yoga break during a business meeting or offsite is a great way to keep the energy going! And he always comes with helpful information and tips that seem to stick. - Candace, Admin Business Partner
Carter Scott has long been the resident yoga instructor at Google Ann Arbor. Every Monday, Googlers look forward to his rotating Hatha and Vinyasa classes. Since we have a job that is 100% on a computer, Carter’s classes are the perfect antidote to sore backs, stress, and strained eyes. He is super dependable and flexible with scheduling when our company holidays conflict with his scheduled classes. His class does the impossible by making us look forward to Mondays. We could not recommend him highly enough. Thanks, - Cassie Shamey
Carter has been teaching yoga at the Ann Arbor location for quite some time. He has a strong reputation amongst us for being the best yoga instructor in town. I personally want to testify how I truly enjoy Carter's yoga classes compared to the dozens of classes I've taken at various studios over the years. Carter brings such great energy and spirit to the room. I always enter yoga very stressed, and I always leave feeling much better thanks to Carter. One of the most unique things about his teaching is how Carter encourages each yogi to embrace their bodies' needs and start the class by seeing what we want to focus on. Thanks Carter! Keep doing what you do. It truly makes a difference in peoples' lives. Best, - Anna Gutierrez :)
